Physical Description Despite being the middle child, Sean is considered quite tall. Growing up, he’d wrestle with his siblings including his sister. Since birth, he had a defect on his left ear that caused it to appear deformed. It was flatter than his right. Born deaf, he had difficulties early on with speaking. Eventually, with medical therapy, he was able to speak and was given special hearing devices which enabled him to hear. Eventually as medical sciences improved, they gave him special ear implants that assisted him with hearing the words being spoken. Even then, he refused to let them repair his hearing, preferring to remain “unique”.

Personality & Traits

General Overview As a middle child, he would disappear and be given less attention. In doing so, he became socially awkward and introverted. Growing up, he preferred to keep to himself. In a military family, it was expected for Gareth’s sons to join the military. However, Sean had a “passive” nature. He disliked combat, but learned self defence from his siblings. Alternatively, he wanted to explore and discover new places especially with his sister. He would get “lost” in a new place to find and discover new areas of interest. His passion for exploring, even without hearing, set him to new places. His outdoor interest introduced him into piloting at an early age when his father introduced him to early military aircrafts from WW3 and beyond. Sean got into piloting early, learning about Earth based aircrafts similar to an Osprey. Later when he got into the starfleet academy, he enjoyed taking piloting classes and learning from his flight instructors.
Strengths & Weaknesses Ability to explore and open his mind to new ventures. Adaptable. Deeply traditional. Self awareness of his surroundings. Looks “visually” at his surroundings. Visual aide including lip reading and sign language. Lip reading.

Aside from his deafness, he tends to be socially withdrawn. Second guesses himself. Introvertness. Neurodivergent. Social anxiety and OCD. Quiet. Reserved.
Ambitions To explore space. To communicate with others. Fly different types of aircraft and pilot his own.
Hobbies & Interests He enjoyed learning and piloting early Earth based aircrafts including helicopters and an Osprey military transport and cargo carrier. His father had an old one that no longer worked since WW3 that he learned hands on.

Aside from piloting, he enjoyed horseback riding, rock-climbing, walking, combat self defense martial arts due to his strict military family hierarchy which he enjoyed occasionally, and aircraft models including military. Some of his recent models were an Osprey carrier. He occasionally dabbled in archeology, xeno-archeology and stellar cartography.

Personal History Born on July 13th, 2145 and raised in a military family, Sean’s family name moved occasionally around Europe, including Scotland, Ireland, and Wales. They never had one place they would call home. The names of his siblings were given based on the location they were born in. Osain and Aisling were born in Ireland. Dylan was born in Wales. Sean, however, was born in transit between Ireland and Wales.

His father and grandfather were all military since World War III. Even his brothers were expected to enlist. Sean, however, didn’t. His path diverged, choosing instead to join Starfleet. Born deaf, he learned to speak first before learning to sign. Growing up in North Wales seemed a perfect place for him to grow up as he struggled early with his hearing and speech. Quiet and reserved, he grew up in a heavily traditional household. Growing up in the rugged mountains also aided in his development.

In his mid teens, his family moved to Alpha Centuri for a new hope of exploration and growth. During that time, Sean was given his first “cochlea” implant which helped him hear and interact with other hearing groups. While growing and learning to adapt to his new surroundings, he got into piloting and became fascinated with Cochran’s mission of flight. Eventually in his early twenties, he returned to Earth along with his sister to study in Starfleet Academy. When Sean graduated, he continued to study and learn to pilot various Earth aircraft. He didn’t initially join a NX ship till the Aegis as her pilot, and later in the Eventide.
